The Kamer van Koophandel reports, in an interesting presentation, important facts and figures about transportation and logistics in region Rivierenland. These facts and figures emphasize the importance, the development and the opportunities in the logistic sector in the region Rivierenland.

The Kamer van Koophandel concludes that logistics play an very important role in the region. For example: the logistic sector takes care of around 12% off all the jobs in the region.  An amount  of jobs which is almost the same as in the dutch mainports Rotterdam and Amsterdam. International ambitions for South Gelderland

The provence of Gelderland, region Arnhem-Nijmegen and Region Rivierenland want to promote their provence as logistic hotspot internationally. They’ve signed an agreement of collaboration on wednesday 18 september 2013. The cooperation between these regions focuses on the acquisition of international business and investments, and the promotion of logistics providers for the South of Gelderland. This should result in five new logistics providers, 150 new jobs and €20 million of investments.

Deputy Conny Bieze: “With its strategic location between the port of Rotterdam and the Ruhr-area, Gelderland is a very attractive provence for establishments of logistics providers. The freight wil increase intensively when we finish the second Maasvlakte. The promotion of three hotspots within Gelderland, we want to use chances for freight and economics within Gelderland as much as possible”. The collaboration will mainly focus on the acquisition of international companies, visiting companies, fairs and seminars, participation in trade missions and receiving trade delegations.

Logistic Hotspots
The logistics sector is a promising sector for economics of Gelderland with its A15 (highway), Waal river and the Betuweroute. There are settled many transport companies, mainly in the south of Gelderland(region Liemers, region Nijmegen, region Rivierenland).

Signing of the employment agreement on 23 March 2012, and the establishment of a regional counter for employment, the regions have put a first step in strengthening the logistic sector. The cooperation between these three hotspots is the next step to strenghten the position as logistics corridor.

Kuehne + Nagel moves settlement to Logistic Hotspot Rivierenland

One of the world’s leading logistics providers moves one of its settlements to business park Medel (Tiel). The expanding of Kuehne and Nagel will generate more jobs for the Logistic Hotspot Rivierenland.

Kuehne + Nagel Group has more than 1000 offices in over 100 countries, with over 63,000 employees. The company has more than 25 locations in the Netherlands with over 2,500 employees. Since 2007 Kuehne + Nagel has been located in business park Medel. The arrival of a second establishment stimulates regional business for the region Rivierenland.

Logistic Hotspot Rivierenland welcomes this development. The expansion of Kuehne + Nagel underlines the aimes of LHR:
– strenghtening the regional business
– attracting business to the region Rivierenland, to generate more jobs.

More and more companies show interest in the development of LHR. Further development causes a stronger position as a hotspot and shall improve the employment within the region. Becoming a foundation is the next step in this development.

Regio Rivierland reaches the 8the position in the ranking logistic hotspots in the Netherlands.

The region Rivierenland claims the 8th position on the ranking of most important logistic hotspots in the Netherlands in 2013. www.logistiek.nl has pronounced this through their website.

The ranking of the logistic hotspots in the Netherlands was arranged by a panel of 28 professionals from inside the logistic industries. The logistic hotspots were judged by the following criterion; presence of personal / approachableness / availability of ground / motivation of personal and the role of the local en regional authority on attracting new logistics.

Region Venlo – Venray claims the 1th place on this ranking, followed by West-Brabant and Tilburg-Waalwijk. The whole raking can be found on www.logistiek.nl with a global map of the Netherlands whereupon all logistic-hotspots can be found.
