The provence of Gelderland, region Arnhem-Nijmegen and Region Rivierenland want to promote their provence as logistic hotspot internationally. They’ve signed an agreement of collaboration on wednesday 18 september 2013. The cooperation between these regions focuses on the acquisition of international business and investments, and the promotion of logistics providers for the South of Gelderland. This should result in five new logistics providers, 150 new jobs and €20 million of investments.
Deputy Conny Bieze: “With its strategic location between the port of Rotterdam and the Ruhr-area, Gelderland is a very attractive provence for establishments of logistics providers. The freight wil increase intensively when we finish the second Maasvlakte. The promotion of three hotspots within Gelderland, we want to use chances for freight and economics within Gelderland as much as possible”. The collaboration will mainly focus on the acquisition of international companies, visiting companies, fairs and seminars, participation in trade missions and receiving trade delegations.
The logistics sector is a promising sector for economics of Gelderland with its A15 (highway), Waal river and the Betuweroute. There are settled many transport companies, mainly in the south of Gelderland(region Liemers, region Nijmegen, region Rivierenland).
Signing of the employment agreement on 23 March 2012, and the establishment of a regional counter for employment, the regions have put a first step in strengthening the logistic sector. The cooperation between these three hotspots is the next step to strenghten the position as logistics corridor.
